Our Story: The Art of Knitwear
Welcome to ZHILIFS. We are a family-run knitwear maker. Our story didn't begin with a store — it began with yarn: for decades, our family sourced and supplied knitting yarn, learning fibre from the inside out. In 2004 we built our own workshop and took the natural next step, turning that yarn into finished knitwear. Today we focus on what we know best — cashmere sweaters and fine wool knitwear — selling directly to customers.
From our workshop to your wardrobe
Fine knitwear has long carried the markups of boutiques and middlemen. Because we make what we sell — from the yarn to the finished garment — there is no one standing between our workshop and your wardrobe. When you buy from ZHILIFS, you buy straight from the source.
Craftsmanship
Quality begins with the yarn; it is where our family started, and it is still where every design begins. We select fibres for their hand-feel and resilience. Everything is made in our own workshop, where around one hundred computerized flat-knitting machines and a team of about a hundred people bring each design to life — knitting, linking, finishing and checking every garment by hand on the steps that matter. The result sits softly against the skin and holds its shape, season after season.
What we make
ZHILIFS designs and knits only one category of product: cashmere and wool knitwear for men and women. Our current range covers:
- Men's Cashmere Sweaters — turtlenecks, crew necks, mock necks, V-necks, and half-zips in 100% cashmere.
- Men's Cashmere Cardigans — shawl-collar, cable-knit, and button-front styles.
- Men's Sweater Vests — V-neck and crew-neck cashmere and wool vests.
- Women's Cashmere Sweaters — round-neck, V-neck, and midi-length knits.
- Wool Sweaters — 100% sheep wool in worsted, cable, and heavy-gauge lines (made to standard FZ/T 73018-2021).
Fibre and construction detail
Every ZHILIFS piece is made to specifications drawn from our workshop's production sheets:
- Cashmere — 100% cashmere; 9, 12 or 357 needle gauge; 2-ply 16s or 26s yarn; 300–500 g in XL. Fine-gauge cashmere feels smoother and lighter next to the skin; heavier gauges are warmer and more textured.
- Wool (worsted) — 100% sheep wool, 100S mercerised, fibre fineness 16.02 microns; 2-ply 48s yarn; 16 gauge.
- Wool (cable) — 2-ply 48s, 12 gauge, 337–354 g in XL.
- Wool (heavy) — 2-ply 26s, 357 needle, 515–576 g in XL.

Company and Manufacturing Structure
ZHILIFS is operated by two related companies under common control: our knitwear factory is responsible for the knitting production, and Chongqing Yichen Clothing Sales Co., Ltd (重庆依辰服装销售有限公司) — a clothing company registered in Chongqing, China in 2011 — is responsible for brand operations and direct-to-consumer sales. This is why our sales entity's registered business scope covers apparel sales rather than manufacturing.
